A Year of Christmas Stitching - free chart.

Hello stitchy friends,
Can you believe that this gorgeous design was stitched using just two colours of thread? We used one pale blue thread and one variegated thread in wintery blues and the effect is stunning.
Your free chart can of course be stitched in any colour scheme that you like...try pinks, or lilacs, or greens....or whatever your favorite colours are!
We stitched this using Sulky threads which are wonderful to work with. You can stitch with just one strand of thread instead of two strands as you would if using DMC or Anchor embroidery threads. The design can be stitched in any brand of thread and in any colour....don't you just love when a design is so versatile like that?
So how did we finish the design?
We found some little wooden coasters at our local craft store and thought they were perfect for using with this design. We attached the stitching to the coasters leaving the natural wood to show, but you can, if you like, paint the coasters a matching blue....or any other colour!

Wouldn't that make a cute little gift? What about a set of coasters - each coaster could be stitched in a different colour scheme!

We also decided to finish this design as an ornament....you can never have too many Christmas ornaments! :)

Don't these cinnamon sticks look wonderful as part of the ornament?

We made some cording using regular six stranded thread/floss and made a loop for the cinnamon sticks to go through.

So, no matter what brand of threads you use, or what colour scheme you pick, we hope you enjoy stitching this free design...and don't forget to let us see your stitching! Share your stitching on social media using #tangledthreadsandthings and /or #ayearofchristmasstitching
Until next time....happy stitching!
