Create a keychain

(If you've yet to cross stitch the heart for this project, you can find the pattern here.)

With a little piece of felt and a small key ring you can easily make this keychain using your heart stitching:

Pink thread sits next to a brown and pink cross stitched keychain.

Note – This post may contain affiliate links to cross stitch products I trust. This means if you make a purchase using the links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support!

To make the keychain, you will need:

  • Felt (colour of your choice)

  • Embroidery thread ( you can use the thread you used to stitch the heart)

  • Small split ring/key ring

  • Scissors

  • Pins

  • Keyring Template

  • Split ring/keyring

  • And your stitching, of course!

Method

  • Trim stitching four squares from heart on all sides and fray edges.

  • Cut out paper template.

  • Fold felt in half and place template with top part at the fold of the felt. Pin template to felt and carefully cut out shape.

  • Pin stitched heart in place and use one strand of black thread to stitch heart in place (Use photo above as a guide for placement and stitching)

  • Slip key ring through felt and fold felt to form finished shape.

  • Pin the folded felt together

  • Use two strands of pink thread to blanket stitch around keyring.

Why not make several of these keyring using different colours… they make great end-of-year gifts for teachers, fun stocking stuffers and wonderful ‘new home’ gifts!

And here's the original picture I took... the cat photobombing, as usual!
