A Year of Christmas Stitching: Additional Free Chart for Email Subscribers

When designing for cross stitch magazines, I'm always asked specifically to add a design that can be used as a cake band - it's not something I have ever made, but since it's popular I thought I should add it to our "A Year of Christmas Stitching" as one of our "subscribers' extras" - extras specifically for you as one of our email subscribers! The design is located as a PDF download at the bottom of this page.

You can also make a bookmark with this design. Once you have stitched the piece, cut your aida six squares away from your stitching and then fray your edges. Back with another piece of aida and stitch together, adding a small ribbon at the bottom (or the top? Either way... you can just flip your bookmark around and you'd have your ribbon where you prefer - LOL!).

You can also take an individual motif from the pattern and use it to make a gift tag. Try using different colours of threads and fabrics to create the look you want!
