Sending hugs in the mail!

I thought today that I'd share a little 'pick me up' pattern in case you were feeling the blues of being stuck inside. This is another little mouse pattern that's perfect for when you want a quick finish. (You can find the first one here) I've made mine into a card again as I think this is a wonderful time to send cards to friends and family that we are missing. I'm certainly missing my family just now and although we phone or skype, I really miss having them here with me and being able to give them a hug. So today I'm sending hugs in the mail. So how do you transform your stitching into a card? It's easy, just follow these simple instructions.

Once you have stitched the design (link for the chart is at the end of this post), all you need to do is trim the stitching to the desired size...

...I left nine squares/blocks of the Aida all round....

...then carefully pull away one block of each side to fray the edges...

...back the stitching with some white card or iron-on interfacing, then glue it to some colored card and trim so there is a narrow border all round...

....glue some patterned papers to a blank card and attach your stitching...

Simple!  And just a quick note about thread colours - don't worry if you don't have the colours that are called for on the chart....I didn't have the pinks that the chart called for....I used 3713 and 760 instead, and it worked out fine. I also didn't use the very dark grey for the back stitching, not that I didn't have that thread though, I was just too lazy to get up and root around for the thread when the black skein of thread was already in my stitching basket :)

Please feel free to share your finished stitching of this design on any social media platform using #TangledThreadsAndThings and do let other stitchers know that they can access the free chart here....let's spread the love!
